Cassiopeia, Wendy, or Mom

December 7, 2008

If your evening skies are clear, now is a good time to view the constellation Cassiopeia.  Cassiopeia, the Queen, reigns in the northern skies.  Depending on the time of night, it appears as a W or an M.  If you are in a very dark location, you will be able to see the Milky Way, our own galaxy, behind Cassiopeia.

Once upon a time, I renamed Cassiopeia.  For me, the constellation’s new name is Wendy.  For my kids, the name is Mom.

So if you have  good clear skies tonight, look north a find Cassiopeia, or Wendy, or Mom.
