Another Inconvenient Truth

Al Gore has been awarded a half-share of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. As I wrote earlier, the real inconvenient truth is that Gore’s position on global warming has more holes in it than a large block of Swiss cheese.

Gore now joins the wall of shame of other Peace Prize winners. Check out Power Line’s list of past winners:

MOHAMED ELBARADEI (joint winner). He’s done such a nice job with Iran.

WANGARI MAATHAI. The Kenyan ecologist peacefully teaches that the AIDS virus is a biological agent deliberately created by the Man.

JIMMY CARTER JR., former President of the United States of America. A true cosmopolitan, he has undermined the foreign policy of his own country and vouched for the bona fides of tyrants and murderers all over the world.

KOFI ANNAN, United Nations Secretary General. Among other things, they have respectively served as the vehicle for, and presided over, one of the biggest scams in history.

YASSER ARAFAT (joint winner), Chairman of the Executive Committee of the PLO, President of the Palestinian National Authority for his efforts to create peace in the Middle East. He was a a cold-blooded murderer both before and after receiving the award.

RIGOBERTA MENCHU TUM, Guatemala. She is the notorious Guatemalan faker and author, sort of, of I, Rigoberta Menchu.

THE UNITED NATIONS PEACE-KEEPING FORCES New York, NY, U.S.A. Notwithstanding rapes and sex abuse committed by the team in Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea and the Congo, still doing fine work all over the world.

Just because Gore has won an Academy Award, an Emmy, and now the Peace Prize, the real truth doesn’t change. Political correctness doesn’t make it so.

And what in the world does spreading wildly exaggerated “facts” about climate change have anything to do with peace? The Nobel committee announced that “”seeking to contribute to a sharper focus on the processes and decisions that appear to be necessary to protect the world’s future climate, and thereby to reduce the threat to the security of mankind” was the reason for the award. Damien Thompson wrote in the Telegraph

“The former US Vice-President has already taken over from Michael Moore as the most sanctimonious lardbutt Yank on the planet. Can you imagine what he’ll be like now that the Norwegian Nobel committee has given him the prize?”

I wonder how large a carbon footprint Gore will make just to go to Norway to accept the award.

How about Michael Murphy and his fellow sailors, soldiers, airmen, Marines, and Coasties that are working to keep us safe from terrorists? Lt. Murphy died in Afghanistan in June 2005. President Bush will award Lt. Murphy the Medal of Honor posthumously on October 22, 2007 in a White House ceremony. I think Lt. Murphy and the thousands of other men and women in the military will outdistance Al Gore so far in bringing peace to our world that Gore’s ”inconvenient truth” will barely be remembered.
